Girl Talk, Inc.-

Founded in 2002, Girl Talk is a student-to-student mentoring program that pairs middle school girls with high school girls who serve as mentors. Weekly meetings are held before or after school, during which the high school “Leader” conducts valuable lessons that address issues middle school girls face every day. Some examples of weekly lessons are Being Nice, Underage Drinking and How to Talk to Your Parents. Girl Talk has several lessons that have additional resources for our Leaders, Advisors and parents. An example is: Choices & Consequences of Underage Drinking: A Guide for the Mom of a Teenage Girl. For a complete list of Girl Talk Lessons, click here. Middle school girls are encouraged to share any positive news, concerns or problems they may have. The high school Leaders are there to listen and to offer support and guidance when needed. Girl Talk Chapters are also involved in community service projects throughout the year.

Girl Talk helps middle school girls build self-esteem, learn the importance of community service and most importantly, benefit from a valuable relationship with a high school Girl Talk mentor. In turn, the high school Leaders gain a sense of accomplishment knowing they’ve helped make a difference in the lives of many young girls.

Designed to reach ALL middle school girls, Girl Talk welcomes non-traditional Chapters as well. Girl Talk currently has home school Chapters, athletic team Chapters (dance teams, basketball teams, softball teams, etc.) youth groups, after school programs and Girl Scout groups. We also encourage high school girls to think outside the box if their school will not allow Girl Talk meetings to take place before or after school.

Each Girl Talk Chapter requires a Chapter Advisor to be present at all Girl Talk Chapter meetings and events. This person can be the middle or high school’s guidance counselor, a favorite teacher, a female coach, a mom, a female college student or even an aunt. The ideas are endless!

Based in Atlanta, GA, Girl Talk is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with Chapters in 41 states reaching over 35,000 girls. Girl Talk is FREE to any female high school Leader that truly wants to make a difference in her school and community.

Lost City-

Lost City is the definition of true band. Having played together for almost ten years, members Kyle Seitz, Mark Sims, and Noel Goff continue to build their fanbase and repertoire. Since highschool in the Norcross suburb of Atlanta, their chemistry and passion has always been present in their recordings and live performances.

Lost City attracts a wide ranging appeal of all ages, stemming from their ability to create catchy melodies along with an original rock edge. Ryan Adams, Radiohead, Wilco, Medeski Martin and Wood, and Tom Waits are just a few of the influences and comparisons associated with the band. Listeners will hear occasional time signature changes and abstract aspects of their music, with the band still reverting back to the core of fundamental songwriting.

Seitz’ wide ranging vocal style, paired with his rhythm and lead guitars, help create the melodic tones of Lost City. Bassist Sims keeps fans interested with distinct bass lines, and sometimes switching from upright to electric, while keeping the foundation alongside the precision and energy of Goff’s drumming.

Lost City has performed at Smith’s Olde Bar, Drunken Unicorn and other venues in the Atlanta area. The members of Lost City have also experienced exposure with past projects in Charleston, Nashville, Birmingham, and international locations, such as Germany and Great Britain. Fundraisers are also a consistent part of their live shows, from the annual Rock the Cure, helping to raise the awareness of juvenile diabetes, to Winter Soulstice, which contributes to the presence of music and arts in public schools.

Lost City’s goals and aspirations reach far beyond the childhood interest of their respective musical instruments. The music industry has consistently been apart of the lives of all three members, and that involvement will only continue to grow

Homefront-

A native Atlanta band, captures melodic indie rock, fuses it with with bluesy folk and serves it up with frontwoman, Kelly Taylor.

A natural chanteuse, Kelly’s voice is a mix of Norah Jones, Stevie Nicks, Fiona Apple with a dash of Lucinda Williams. Ryan Steinwedel and Kelly formed a band called Travel By Train with Noel Goff as drummer and concentrated on songwriting and playing. Meanwhile, Noel and Ryan had played together for years with Kyle Seitz who is a talented singer and songwriter as well.

Fast forward a few years and finally they all began another project playing together in Homefront. The band features two very strong singers and songwriters, Kyle Seitz and Kelly Taylor, amazing guitar melodies by Ryan Steinwedel, rock steady drums by Noel Goff joined by a new member to the group, Allan Ray on bass.

The band is tight, tight, tight – from torchy ballads to straight up rock and roll to alty indie – Homefront can get a crowd dancing, swaying and even singing to its catchy words and bluesy rhythms.
